Steps to Building a Car Wash…

1. Work out site analysis to determine if site warrants building a car wash.
2. Obtain a water sewer availability letter from the city on the location.
3. Estimate the cost for construction at $40,000 per bay to see if the numbers work out.
4. Obtain a loan commitment letter from bank to build project.
5. Purchase property
6. Work with a local architect and car wash supplier to discuss all local building codes and necessary utility
7. requirements. Have an architect or draftsman draw up a complete set of plans.
8. Submit plan to city for a building permit.
9. Submit plan to several building contractors for proposed cost of construction.
10. Get quote on car wash equipment for the project; sign contract for car wash equipment.
11. Obtain a building permit from the city for this project.
12. Start construction.
13. Make application to the gas company for service.
14. Make application to the light company for service.
15. Make application to the water department for service.
16. Get construction completed.
17. Get car wash equipment installed.
18. Get occupancy permit from the city.
19. Get all utilities turned on.
20. Get equipment turned on and checked out.
21. Have quarters available for changer for opening.
22. Open car wash for business.
